They are magical worlds in which children’s bodies and imaginations thrive. Slides are one of the most popular attractions in a playground. They appeal to children of all ages. The appeal of playground slide is universal. From timid toddlers who take their first tentative steps to exhilarated adolescents who race down in excitement, slides are a favorite among children of all ages. This article examines the psychology of why children enjoy playground slides, as well as the benefits they provide in terms cognitive, physical and social development.

The Psychology Behind the Attraction

1. Sense Of Adventure: The slides provide excitement and a sense adventure to children. The anticipation of climbing the stairs or ladder is heightened by the rapid descent down the slide. Children are naturally drawn to thrills and seek out new experiences.

2. Independence: Whether it is a longer slide or one that has twists, mastering the slide gives children a feeling of accomplishment and increases their self-esteem. They can show off their physical abilities and independence.

3. Creativity and Imagination: The slides are often integral to imaginative play scenarios. Slides can be transformed into spaceship launch pads, dragon’s lairs, or waterfalls leading to hidden treasures. The imaginative play helps develop children’s problem-solving abilities as they create and explore imaginary worlds.

4. Sensory experience : The physical sensations that accompany sliding – the speed, the wind, and even the tactile feeling of sliding – provide rich sensory input. This is important because it stimulates the senses, which in turn is essential for the development of children’s sensory system.

The Physical Benefits of Sliding

1. Motor Skills Development : Sliding requires climbing, balancing and coordination movements to position yourself correctly on the slide, and propel oneself down safely. These activities contribute to the development gross motor skills such as balance, coordination and strength.

2. Cardiovascular Fitness : Children’s cardiovascular system is stimulated by climbing stairs and ladders, and then sliding down. This promotes heart and lung health.

3. Bone strength: Activities like climbing and sliding that involve weight-bearing help to develop and maintain bone density in growing children.

The Cognitive Benefits of Sliding

1. Spatial awareness: To navigate on the slide, you need to understand spatial relationships such as distance and depth perception. This contributes towards spatial awareness.

2. Risk Analysis: The challenges of climbing and slipping require that you assess risks, make decisions about speed and controls and enhance your cognitive development.

3. Cause-and-Effect: Children adjust their movements in order to control their speed and trajectory as they slide.

The Social and Emotional benefits of Sliding

1. Interaction with Peers: Playgrounds provide a social environment where children can interact and learn from their peers. As children wait their turn, and even slide together at times, slides encourage turn-taking.

2. Emotional Regulation: The thrill of sliding can help children learn to manage their emotions–excitement, fear, and anticipation–in a safe and controlled environment.

3. Building Confidence: Overcoming fears, mastering challenges, and learning new skills while sliding build resilience and confidence among children.

Design Considerations for Playground Sliding Areas

1. Safety : It is important to ensure that the slides are appropriate for children’s ages, well maintained, and adhere to safety standards.

2. Variety : A variety of slide designs are available, including straight, spiral and tube slides, to cater to different age groups. This enhances the playing experience.

3. Accessibility : Designing accessible playgrounds with ramps and slides allows children of all abilities to enjoy and benefit from sliding.

The Conclusion Of The Article Is:

Playground slides do not just serve as a recreational structure, but are also essential for the development of children. They stimulate children’s cognitive development, encourage physical activity and capture their imagination. Understanding the impact slides have on children allows us to design and develop play areas that foster healthy, happy and well-rounded people.

The Best Playdough Recipe https://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/the-best-playdough-recipe/ https://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/the-best-playdough-recipe/#respond Mon, 19 Feb 2024 10:42:03 +0000 http://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/?p=185 WHY MAKE HOMEMADE PLAYDOUGH

Playdough is a great activity for rainy days. We love making it in the kitchen. You get a lot more dough when you make your playdough using the best recipe.

This homemade playdough is also much easier to mold and softer than store-bought!

HOMEMADE PLAYDOUGH

We love making playdough at Kids Activities Blog and have many different recipes to share with you. This DIY playdough recipe is a classic and a beloved one.

It was a trade secret that another kindergarten teacher gave me when I was teaching kindergarten. But I couldn’t resist sharing it with you guys.

It is a simple recipe, too! Here it is!

DIY PLAYDOUGH SUPPLIES AND INGREDIENTS

2 cups of Flour

2 Tbsp Oil (any oil will work, coconut oil or vegetable oil even olive oil).

1/2 Cup Salt

2 Tbsp Cream Of Tartar

1 1/2 Cup Boiling Water

Gel Food Coloring (Optional).

Gel food coloring is the key to vibrant colors in playdough. You can find it in craft/hobby stores in the cake decorating section, or in the baking aisle at the grocery store. Gel food coloring is the best for making homemade playdough.

PLAYDOUGH – HOW TO MAKE IT

Let’s begin with the dry ingredients. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour.

Add 1/2 cup salt.

Add 2 tablespoons Cream of Tartar to the mixture. This can be found in any grocery store’s spice section.

2 tablespoons of oil is needed. This recipe used vegetable oil. However, any oil can be used. As long as it is a kitchen oil your playdough won’t be toxic and safe for little ones who only have a small amount. We don’t recommend that you make this playdough twice as a snack.

Add the boiling hot water. This will make the dough hot!

Combine all ingredients until you have a dough. You can now add food dye to the playdough if you do not want.

Once the dough has cooled, you can make different colors by separating it into equal portions and rolling it into balls.

You can now punch the ball in the middle to create a small bowl that you can pour your gel food dye.

Dip the gel dye in the bowls. If you wish to create another color, this is the time to mix dye colors.

Knead the dough till the dye is fully mixed. This can be messy! Use gloves if you don’t want your hands to be stained by the sticky mess. Also, make sure you put something down to prevent staining your counters (like I did).

You can add your favorite playdough scents – essential oils and extracts that match the colors you choose.

How can you keep food coloring from staining your skin?

You can make homemade playdough by adding food coloring to it. This will cause some color to transfer onto the hands of children. Staining is less likely for lighter colors. The first time you mix in the gel food dye, there is the greatest chance of staining the counter or hands.

The staining of pastel colors on children’s hands is not uncommon. However, if they play with the item for a while and keep it in an airtight container, we find that it will be less noticeable.

Intense, bright colors have a greater chance of staining after multiple uses.

Is it possible to make this PLAYDOUGH RECIPE WITHOUT CREAM OF TARTAR?

Cream of tartar, also known as potassium bitartrate, is a common ingredient in the kitchen. It is used to stabilize other ingredients during cooking because of its acidic properties. Cream of tartar is used to create the fun, springy texture in this homemade playdough recipe.

There are many good substitutes for cream of tartar if you don’t own it.

To offset the rise in liquid, add 2 tablespoons lemon juice to a little flour

3 tablespoons baking powder

You can substitute 2 tablespoons vinegar in a pinch. However, I don’t like the smell the playdough makes.

Tips to keep your toddler quiet at public events https://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/tips-to-keep-your-toddler-quiet-at-public-events/ https://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/tips-to-keep-your-toddler-quiet-at-public-events/#respond Mon, 19 Feb 2024 06:17:28 +0000 http://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/?p=173 Preschoolers and toddlers are full of joy and energy. However, keeping your toddler safe in public places such as a church, graduation ceremonies, and other events that require calm children can be difficult. This can be difficult for your child and even test your patience. Many parents are confused and want to give up on their children’s quiet-time toys, books and snacks. We have a lot of ideas for you today… Based on the advice from our Facebook community and others…

WAYS TO KEEP YOUR TODDLER QUIET AT PUBLIC EVENTS

Place your feet closer to the front.

For your event, choose a seat nearer the front. We had a great experience with the church. Our experience was with the church. We discovered that the closer we were to the front, the better our behaviour was. Keep in mind that children are more interested in what they see than hear. They tend to act out more when they are seated in the back.

Pre-emptive Wiggles and Frequent Walks

You can take a short walk every ten minutes during the event.

A Quiet Box

You can make a “quiet bag” with your chosen toys for special occasions. Rotate the toys, and buy new toys that are affordable but still fun for your kids. This will save you so much time acting out .”

Participate in the Family Church Service

Look for a family-friendly service. Some services welcome children and encourage them to attend. If this is not possible, you might consider a church with a quiet room. This allows you to see and hear the service through the speakers, but you cannot hear them.

Practice Reading Time (& Quiet Time)

You can do reading time at home, where he must sit down and listen as you read. You can introduce him to other books as he becomes more comfortable with reading. He will learn how to control his behaviour in certain situations. Take him on a walk if he acts out. But, hold him and tell him that this is not playtime. This will help him to be more controlled at other events, such as weddings and graduations. Keep at it, and don’t lose heart! You don’t have to be too young to understand there is time to be playful and calm. He will benefit from attending church and watching you be patient with his needs !”

Strategic Breaks during Events

Take a quiet break during an event. This is how Lauren manages church when she has a toddler.

“We also take a short break halfway through the service (just before the sermon) to walk around the back of the church. We sometimes walk with her when we are kneeling. It doesn’t matter about me at the moment. But getting her to understand and enjoy church. She is paying attention to me throughout the service. We are discussing the service and what is happening. Although I might not be paying much attention to the sermon or readings, I know I am giving my daughter the gift of understanding church and helping her enjoy it. Talk to your priest or pastor. Our priest is open to children who don’t sit still or aren’t silent. His son has stated that he enjoys hearing a child talk or cry in a quiet moment because it indicates a new generation of church members. It may seem worse than it is to you.

Colouring books are great quiet activity.

Give him a colouring book and a pen. It is rare for children to get pens, but they will be excited to use them. You can also find sparkly gel pens, which are even more fun!

A tradition of After Event Time Play Time

Play with him on the playground or other children after the event, even if it is a little too short.

Timed Quiet Time at Home

You can practice quiet time in your home. Start small by setting a timer. You can start by setting a timer for 5 minutes, then 10 and then 15, then 15 each week until you reach your goal.

Encouragement is better than discouragement.

No matter what you do, your children will learn from you. Please encourage them to join you and gently remind them to listen. They are still young children and do not have the attention span to focus on an event for more than an hour. Frequent breaks and distractions will be their best option as they learn to sit still. This, too, will pass.

How to encourage higher-level thinking in children https://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/how-to-encourage-higher-level-thinking-in-children/ https://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/how-to-encourage-higher-level-thinking-in-children/#respond Mon, 19 Feb 2024 06:04:44 +0000 http://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/?p=170 My kids are my favourite thing. I love their insatiable curiosity about everything. They are curious about everything, from the tiny details of a sunflower to vast expanses of the ocean.

I would like to believe that all that questioning comes naturally to most people, but it is important to increase higher-level thinking.

While children are naturally curious, nurturing curiosity in our children is a top priority. We want them to learn and grow about things that interest us.

I believe these are some of our best-researched projects that have been very successful.

HOW TO ENCOURAGE HIGHER-LEVEL THINKING IN KIDS

Try new things

While we have always been open to giving our children new experiences, in many ways, it is something that we do intentionally.

A friend told me that she couldn’t afford to take her kids on expensive trips or take them to faraway places. This is not what we are about, so I understand it.

We mean to try new things. This could be experimenting with how the lemonade recipe is made, wading in the creek to find hidden rocks and taking a walk through the woods after the rains. These questions spark curiosity and inspire them to learn more about things they may not have considered.

Ask questions

Have you ever played 20 Question? You know you can learn a lot about someone by playing.

If we visit a local museum, we might ask about an artefact we are interested in. These questions lead to further research, either by asking a guide at the museum or doing some research at home.

My husband and I used to ask questions, but now the kids do it too. They also have discussions about their knowledge and opinions about history.

It is a wonderful learning experience for all of them.

Don’t Make Them Bored.

Parents don’t want their children to be bored. This seems to be one of the most difficult things they can do. In our household, boredom leads to imagination and curiosity.

The truth is that the children know that we are not their entertainment director and that if they get bored, they have to think of activities to keep them entertained.

Many times these activities involve trying out new things or experiments. They’re learning about their bikes and counting the birds that visit the bird feeder. Kids learn much more when they are curious about the world around their homes. They can model curiosity and learn new things together. And most importantly, they will have fun doing it!

A list of age-appropriate chores for kids https://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/a-list-of-age-appropriate-chores-for-kids/ https://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/a-list-of-age-appropriate-chores-for-kids/#respond Mon, 19 Feb 2024 05:40:17 +0000 http://www.babysgotstyle.com.au/?p=161 It is difficult to discuss chores as household chores with children. It is difficult for children because they want a chore-free environment. It is difficult for busy parents because they need to find the right task for their child, teach them how to complete it correctly and follow up to ensure that the chores are completed.

Getting kids to do chores without complaining or whining can be difficult. The good news is that chores are shared with the entire family! Children’s responsibility is far more important than we thought. Research shows that children who have chores to do at home as children grow up are happier.

This is why we have the most age-appropriate chores!

Whatever the season, a routine is a great way to organize your life.

My beloved routine!

My children are expected to start a new set of household chores daily as part of their daily routine.

Yes, CHORES.

The word has a negative connotation that I believe is unfair. Every family member has a role in running/maintaining the household. Each of my children plays a part in this, as do I. This sense of responsibility should be taught to them as an early life lesson so they do not go out into the world without a purpose.

KIDS CHOOSE BY AGE

My children’s chores vary each year depending on their grades and maturity levels. You, as a mother, know what your child can and cannot handle.

Younger children may require you to make chores enjoyable as they form these habits. Older children can do their laundry themselves.

It is important to remember that even if they do a terrible job, it is okay. Show patience and a positive work ethic. This lesson of practical skills will be more valuable to them than clean bathrooms.

Do not let them whine or complain. It is important to maintain a positive attitude and lead by example. I expect it from my children and reinforce that expectation with positive reinforcement. It is easier to accept family chores as part of your daily routine the earlier you begin with them.

These are some age-appropriate chore suggestions for each age group. Remember that you are the best judge of your child’s abilities.

What are the chores a child should have?

Age-appropriate chores teach children the importance of chores and how to manage their time. The number of chores a child does and how long they do them will depend on their age.

TIPS FOR NAME-WRITING PRACTICES

Your child will feel confident and happy when you help them practice writing their names.

You should not only have them practice their first and last names but also their last names.

This is a great way to teach capital letters. The first letter in your child’s name must be capitalized.

Additionally, practising fine motor skills is important and helps with letter recognition.

USE THESE WRITING ACTIVITY IDEAS IN OTHER WAYS

Even cooler is that these can be used to help young learners learn their names and would also be a great way to teach sight words!

We hope that you and your children enjoy these activities. They will help you learn the skills necessary to quickly write your last name and first name.

FUN WAYS FOR KIDS TO PRACTICE WRITING SKILLS

These bags are amazing. You can fill a large Ziploc bag with half a bottle of hair gel and some food colouring. Write their names on paper to make it easy for them to use. Place the gel bag on top of the paper. You can have your children trace the letters to create their names.

This is a great way to teach children (from 2 years old) how to write their names. You don’t need to worry about your little ones sticking glitter or fingers in their mouths.

For practice tracing, create sandpaper letters of the name.

Sensory experiences are a favourite with children. This helps children recognize that letters must be arranged in a certain order. Sandpaper is used to write your name. To form their letters, your child will need to use yarn.

Name Writing: Dot-to-Dot

This technique is especially helpful for older children who have inherited bad habits. Make a series numbering from the point they begin. Children must follow the dots in order. Your child should start with many dots and gradually reduce the number of dots.

Glittery Name Letters Name Letters – Cool Way to Write Name

You can review their names multiple times a day. Write their names on a piece of cardboard or stiff paper. Use glue to trace the letters of your child’s name. Use glitter to cover the glue. Once the glue has dried, you can trace your letters using your fingers.

This is a great way for your child to practice their name. It also gives your child an opportunity to express their creativity.

To catch excess glitter, I suggest you put something under it.

You can scramble or unscramble the letters of your name.

Recognizing their name and understanding the order in which it is written is an important step toward writing their name. This fun name activity will help you practice putting letters in the right order. This activity is compatible with Foam letters and Refrigerator Letters.

Use Rainbow Letters to Make a Name for Colorful Practice Tracing

Give your child some crayons. You can trace your name repeatedly. Every time, they use a different crayon. It will amaze you how quickly your children will master this technique.

This is the first place to practice name writing. Mixing colours, building colours, and playing with crayons is great fun.

Chalk-Board Swabs to Name Practice

This chalkboard is so handy and fun! You can write their name with chalk on the board. Your children will need a few cotton swabs and some water. The swabs will be used to erase the letters.

You can also use a dry erase markerboard if you don’t own a chalkboard. You can purchase various coloured dry erase pens to make it even more fun.

Highlighter Tracing Exercises Using Name Letters

Use a bright highlighter mark to write the letters of your name in thick lines. The children trace the letters. Their goal is to keep within the lines of the highlighter marks. You can make the letters smaller and thinner as they get more confident.

Enjoy Street Letters with Names on Masking Tape

Tape the letters of the name onto the floor. Grab the bin of cars. Let your children drive the letters of their names around. Please encourage your children to drive their cars along the roads as they would write them.

This is just one of many great ideas. Play and learning can be combined to keep things interesting for young children.

Play Dough Etching the First and Last Names of Children

Use a pencil to trace your child’s name onto play dough. Your child can trace the lines. Next, roll the paper flat and trace your child’s name gently. Your children will use the lines you have drawn to inscribe their names. You will develop muscle motor control and writing skills by using the tension in the dough.
